Guess they won't be losing to turbo vipers anymore.

John
well there are full weight vipers that run sevens so i dont know about that, but a damn impressive car none the less. I remember when they hit 988 awhp a few years back with the ams evo.

That car is faster than me but bragging like that about dyno numbers is a joke. They need to get to the track and see if they can put it down. Judging by the 2007 vids they were all ready having some issues getting it to hook and go straight. Now they have more power which will make that issue worse. I would have dialed in the chassis more and worked on the launch and going straight. Just me but more power is not always the answer.

I agree with you

Sure, but I definitely wouldn't be claiming some fictitious world record.

1100hp is awesome...no doubt about it. I just find it funny that they
claim a record for a dyno pull

Exactly my point.

Personally, I don't really care for Evos, but that doesn't mean I don't respect their engineering. Anyone that has been in the hobby for a while knows that squeezing that much power out of a small displacement motor is really amazing. Considering that only 30 years ago the Mitsubishi Celeste was only making 120hp, it really shows how far their technology has come. Streetable or not, it's a pretty cool achievement.

The basis of being a car enthusiast is that you need to respect all makes of cars. It's not a bad thing to have a preference, but don't allow your pride to cast a blind eye towards other platforms. It really doesn't matter if you're driving a 1000hp Camaro or a VW Bug, because the fact is, all that matters is who crosses the finish line first.

That's my take on it.

Ever looked under a Viper, particularly the early roadsters?

Actually in the awd they dont want the front wheels to come up because thats when they break the center diff. Thats why they put like 2000lb spring rates in the back to not alow weight transfer.

but seriously, that's a good amount of power coming from an EVO.

All this talk of cheap, and crappy just conjures up images of my car's interior

Our rides aren't God's gift to quality, so **** it!

That little thing is hellacious!! I've never been big on Evos, but I wouldn't mind a WRX. The sounds...

And yes they are make a claim to the record for Evo VIII dyno numbers.

John
Really? how fast has that car gone?

I think its cool and all but its far as hell from a street car, and in the viper world you have this:

Streetable is all in the eye of the beholder. A gutted tin can with 8000 hp is good for me. Maybe you enjoy the lap of luxury when you drive a mostly race car. I could care less about it. I'd put my money on the Evo in a street race. Dig to 150ish. And if you say why not a track I say take your "streetable" viper. He har.
Not sure why so many people are annoyed with them claiming to have the worlds most powerful Evo 8. Which is also the fastest. I know I'd be proud.
Fastest on your street may be your world but it aint the world. GL

I agree... Props to the Evo builders, and I hope they enjoy their accomplishment... Until another Evo shop beats them at least.
