i had a 00 busa, installed a baby hahn turbo kit- tuned by motorhead . bike made 274 rwhp and 147 tq at 9-psi on pump gas. back in 01 there were only 3kits out. mc express, anderson and hahn...the prices went from 3-8k so being new to boost i went with the lowest price kit. my bike would run 9.0 @ 167, it was a 100% street bike. i lived 120 miles from new england dragway and would pack up at 4 am ride up to the track, race and when done hop on and go back home....top speed on my bike was a gearing limited 218 on gps. busa's are amazing bikes, but bolt on a turbo and its a new realm of speed.

I just got back home from Maxton. It was the last event of the year. Charlie went 259.85mph. The main reason I am posting this is to honor Dave.

At about 10:30 Am on saturday morning, Dave Owens (the guy talking about the bike through most of the video) crashed after the finish line riding his own bike. Here is what has been released so far:

DaveO went thru the traps at 216mph, his head was down as he did. He never raised his head again and went left after the finish line. Bike in pieces, Dave went instantly. Massive injuries.

I was at the starting line when it happened. This was my first time at maxton, so I didn't really know who was who that morning. It turns out that I was standing next to Dave's son Josh when they sent word that he had crashed. Charlie continued to run his bike after they restarted the even because Josh wanted the record for his dad. Apparently Dave Owens was the Warren Johnson of Land speed/standing mile competition for bikes. No one has had a bad thing to say about. He was one of the best if not the best bike tuners in the world. I think everyone should watch that video one more time knowing that dave has passed.

RIP Dave
