That would be an interesting comparison for sure. But can you imagine Calloway's old "Sledgehammer" concept taking on the new ZR1, it would be an absolute slaughter on Sledgehammer's part, Click here....

I know very little about the LT5's honestly. Would like to see the an lt5 zr-1 against a c5 z06, that'd be a better comparison since both cars are making about the same power figures stock.

This for me though is one of my favorite zr-1 videos. A stroker motor zr1 vs a 600rwhp kb cobra. Zr1 is all motor, no juice or anything.

That car has a few tenths left in it just on the shifting alone. I agree sounded awesome though!

That is a buddy of mine named Mike down here in Louisiana. He just recently sold that car. I remember when he got that car. His brother is a very good engine builder/machinist and he built that motor northward of 400 cubes. Mike changed the exhaust cams only I think, ported the intake and I dont know what he did to the heads. He tuned it himself. He said the pcm on those cars is split in half so he had to put two tunes in it. Its split because of the valet and full power mode. He did make a second pass that night and he ran a 10.50

We traded in a '94 ZR1 for a '08 C6ZO6 a couple months ago. It was really hard to let the old Z go, had alot of character. I only raced a terminator and a modded C6 on the highway, pulled on both of them. It was truly an amazing car, the downfalls were that they were rare, hard to work on, expensive, and little aftermarket support. But I swear that car was bulletproof, and it loved to pull all the way to 7500 RPM! It sounded like no other car, had borla cat back, a tune, 4.09 gears. I'd have to say it's no comparison to the '08 ZO6 though, the new ZO6 is light years ahead and has almost a 500lb weight advantage! Anyways, thanks for the memories, I still miss that car....

Awesome engine design. Should've stayed around alot longer. You see what it done to it's "more advanced" LS1 counterpart. The C5 never covered any ground on the LT5. Nice find. I always wondered why they stopped making it when it made 100 more hp than ford's same design. 4.6 DOHC=305hp. LT5=410hp. 4.6 DOHC supercharged =390hp. LT5=410. It speaks for itself. Go GM!
