Well, you're saying about 50mpg for SUVs... There's a lot of them getting in the upper 20s to low 30s right now, so really, it's not that bad.

The thing about that car is that it's a light weight mid-80s car. No air-bags, no sat-nav, no super killer stereo, or lots of sound deadening. He probably even stripped a lot of weight out of it as well. Not to mention the aero clean-up he'd have to do to get that claim. And a LOT of driver technique as well.

Weight, and certain types of aero work, are beyond the OE's control due to either cost or safety regs and modern consumer demand. That simply KILLS mpg. And of course the OE's can't control how or where the owners drive it. So it would never be 50mpg based on current tech, but that they are getting around 30 shows that they aren't that far off.

However, make it a DoD diesel, or even an HCCI/DoD gasser, either with VVT and enough gears, and even SUVs could creep up near the 40 mark.

I'm calling BS on the 100 MPG part in a normal car an internal combustion engine is just not efficient enough to get 100 mpg its just highly improbable. Sure little scooters can get up to 100 MPG but... they don't have to move much weight. They are still inefficient most engines only average 20% thermodynamic efficiency.

I was just reading a article the other day on AOL news. They were talking about MPG junkies. These are a group of people that have a hard on for high MPG like we do fr RWHP. They use the priuses' for most of this stuff but they are able to get 168 mpg. I know its a hybrid car and its made for it but I'm sure that someone can figure out how to make a good amt of power and still get nearly 100MPG.
Like one poster here said the car could be totally stripe down to 1 ton and he could have 2.73's out back and a super high OD that he uses to get his amazing claim.
OR he may have stumbled onto something. Humans are amazing creatures. I just hope he can do it and the technology makes it to us for less then our first borns.

another ebay scam .

that is bullshit on the government pays them off. lets say you make a devise that does do that, and then put a price tag of 500.00 (it would pay for itself in no time). if it does what it says it will do, millions will buy it. now let take a millionX500=half a trillion. i find it hard to believe the government is going to be paying people that kind of money.

look at honda. the government must be closing there eyes and ears at them. they produced a natural gas car, and are very close to releasing a fuel cell car. when does the government plan on paying them off?

or lets look at gm and ford. they would give a pretty penny to have that knowledge. people say they have the knowledge to do it, well why are they headed rapidly towards bankruptcy? if they had the knowledge they would be doing it.
