Default tailpipe backs out of deals

Original thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts...drag-pack.html

Cliff notes: guy agrees to sell me wheels and seals the deal with a reply in the thread, and agrees to even ship them out yesterday (Saturday). I am waiting on the Paypal address and he sends me a PM two days later saying "sorry sold the wheels".

WTF?

You are a piece of ****. You made a deal and now you break it? You agree publicly to our deal, and even offered to ship the wheels out yesterday. I have had payment waiting, and have only been waiting on you to provide your Paypal address. Now you send me a PM saying "Sorry sold the wheels"? NO ****, THEY WERE SOLD TO ME FOR YOUR ASKING PRICE!

I am ******* TIRED OF DICKS in this section!

Luckily I hadn't sent any money yet... This is like the 5th time out of 6 that I've tried to buy something off of someone on LS1tech, and they either agreed then backed out, sold to someone else, or just stopped responding. I even talked to a guy on the phone for half an hour about a different set of TT2 wheels once, talked about meeting halfway to buy them, and then never heard from him again.

WTF is wrong with people these days?

As much as it sucks, I wouldn't go as far as calling him a scammer. It blows that he sold them from underneath you, especially since he said he was selling them to you and he basically held you back from paying for them.

But lets think positive and maybe it was a sign that you weren't supposed to buy any TT2s so maybe you should look into a different style of wheel...

Why would you defend this guy? Maybe we should all just feel sorry for ****** like him? That will discourage it from happening!

Maybe I should have titled the thread PIECE OF **** instead of SCAMMER. Either way works and other potential buyers will hopefully get the hint.

Im not defending him...but he only scammed you out of time. Maybe you will see a post here soon about the guy who he did 'sell' them to calling the guy a scammer and saying he never got the wheels...then you will be happy about the situation

Time, and also any other deals that may have came and went during the time I was in a holding pattern. I will still be mad at him even though I'm not out any money; I'm a man of principle, and I hold grudges.

It's bad business fellas. Perhaps he is getting the brunt of my frustration with a few bad transactions recently, but I still don't understand your desire to defend the guy. Your mentality seems to be that I did something wrong, but I did not. I'm pointing out how this guy handles his business. If he was a stand up person who honored the deals that he makes, you wouldn't be reading this thread.

This reminds me of a story I heard on the news: store owner is held up at knife point by a would-be thief. The store owner defends himself with a baseball bat and injures the thief. The reporter tries to make it out like the thief is the victim, and the store owner is a bad person for beating him up with a baseball bat. Well, guess what? The thief wouldn't have gotten his *** beat if he weren't trying to steal!!! It doesn't matter if he successfully stole something or just made a failed attempt.

Here's another example: let's say you call up a shop (not a private seller) and agree to purchase a part for a set price, and they only have one in stock. Before they charge your credit card, they get a better offer from someone else so they come back and say "sorry the price went up $300 or we sell it to someone else". As a consumer, wouldn't you want to know about practices like these when you were looking for a company to do business with? Think of the Better Business Bureau, it's the commercial equivalent of the feedback forum.

I'm losing my faith in people. You used to be able to complete deals with a handshake and your word, and regardless of future events the transaction would be carried through. Evidently this is no longer the case, behavior like tailpipe's is now acceptable and should be defended?

You need to go back and re-read the facts. I didn't call dibs, we agreed on a deal for his asking price and I had the money in my hand. I was waiting on a payment address so I could send it to him.

I am not complaining about missing out on a deal. The deal wasn't even that great: TT2's with Sumitomos for $1,200? Those are cheap *** tires, and I can order a brand new set of wheels shipped for less than that price.

Why does it feel like I'm defending myself here?

This goes both ways. I dont blame the guy becuase maybe someone locally came to his place and paid more than you would have and he didnt have to ship them, more money and less hassel in his pocket. Being on his side, i would rather sell locally then online, but thats if i hadnt sealed a deal with someone else. it would have been worse on his part if you would have already paid, then he sends your money back.

I will say the one thing that F***IN ****'s me off about this site is some of the people on here. I have been kicked in the *** by so many people its rediculous. Numerous times i've held onto parts for guys that "basically call dibs" and then 3 weeks go by and either they never call back, or are a no show on the day of pickup, etc. its BS but those people are out there.

All I can tell you is, as a seller on here, i sell to whoever sends the money over first. idc who says "I WANT WHAT UR SELLIN", whoever pays first gets it. Sad enough to say that it only took 1-2 A$$holes to ruin things for everyone.

I understand the perspective about getting a local offer, not having to ship, more money, etc. Perhaps I wouldn't have snapped if he said something more in his PM? Who knows, I've been pretty short tempered lately.

Another fact to share: I tried to send money and these are the PMs exchanged after we agreed on the price:

Either way is good, I don't mind waiting a day or two if you would rather use your new Paypal account. Just let me know the address to use when it's ready.
Then a follow-up to him the next day:

If you wanted to let people know that he is not a good business man, this isnt the way to do it.

Man I've had plenty of things sold from out under me as well, but thats life. Money talks, it doesnt matter if I agreed to there asking price or not.
