Thumbs down Valvegod/SMC performance

Well I dont think he's a sponsor, but I got his contact info here.
So i thought I'd share & inform others of my experence.
Have ordered from him in the past= no problems.
This time get a PCM from him already flashed & find out it is defective.
It sets a P0530 A/C hi pressure sw. input & runs the cooling fans constantly & does not allow the A/C to engage.
Well I called him, explained the situation. I had bought the PCM late Feb.
Since I didn't install it till recently(may 25th) & then found a problem, too bad he wont do anything about it. So I guess you have a 1 week warranty w/ his stuff, nice. Definately lost a customer over this. Hope it informs someone else of this BS, I guess what you get from him is a crap shoot.
Then when you do get a defect o-well too bad.

Even if you buy a brand new pcm from the dealership there is no warranty and you can't return it. ALmost all places have a no return policy on electrical components.

I have bought many PCM over the years. The few rare instances I have gotten a defective part it was exchanged no problem. You cannnot tell me by buying a $xxx.xx solid state componet & then hope it is good from anyone no warranty, come on.
I have had no problem from dealers over the years.

Like said above it is an electrical thing, and with all the tuning software out there how does he know it wasn't user error? I have dealt with him on a few occasions and have never had any problems. Just my $0.02

Have you ever dealt with tuning software? None of them even touch this section (A/C hi pressure switch input) that the problem is occuring.

It is good to hear that you all have had a good dealing w/ him, but when you do have a problem dont expect much

If I got this right, you bought a PCM 4 months ago from him and now want to send it back? Just suck it up and go elsewhere if you like. I'd be on the edge too if I was in Valvegods spot.

BTW-if it is a Vette, they are common to get that code. Most of the time it is the high pressure switch, not the PCM.

No its not a vette.
It works fine w/ another PCM.
I quess if you buy a part you have to have the ability to install it instanly & ensure it is good to get it warrantied. Car was not running, I was collecting all the parts needed to get it going. Now that it does I have a problem & o-well.
Nice mentallity here........

Just telling the way I see it. Who say's you haven't been running that PCM for the last 4 months and burn't it up yourself? Not saying you did but you would of had a good chance if it was atleast within a month or so of buying it

I've been in your position before and lost alot more $$ than your computer cost.It sucks but happens.

It was a used part, they don't get the same kind of warranty timeframe that new parts do.
I have to agree with Slowhawk.

I have purchased from Valvegod in the past and he swapped out a PCM from me no questions asked. However, it was like a week or two from when I purchased it.

If you let all that time pass I would worry just like Valvegod.. he's no crook.

Sorry about your situation. I have had EXCELLENT service with Valvegod though.

Electrical components are tough to warranty and generally no electrical components such as PCMs get much of a warranty.

Wow kind of curious how to burn up a PCM.
The car was put together, & the PCM was installed by a sponsor on here & tuned by them. The car runs great, but then this problem was apparent from the get go.
I was left w/ the car that will run well w/ the fans goning full blast. Then a stock pcm that does not run well but the A/C & cooling fan functions normally.
Nothing was burned up. Nor did I tune the car or handle the PCM, the shop that did is a great & well known sponsor here.
I made this post for those that might search to find my experence. I know I like to search these type things. I know for a fact I was sold a defective part & told to too bad.
So what, but others be aware of the way customers of SMC are taken care of Thats my main point of this entire post.

Question Pcm

Slamming someone on the boards for something such as this to me is just proof why you cannot please everyone.. I would have replaced the PCM no problem if you would have sent it back in like a few weeks. Even though right on the invoice it says "No refund after 30 days" No refund on warranty on electrical parts" What do you expect me to do? I have replaced many parts over the past 7 years of business for many different reasons. Some of which are defective new parts, damaged used parts, or even some I know the customer has damaged but still take care of them. You purchased the PCM back in Feb and now it is June? I back everything I sell, but lets be realistic!!! Also it is an electrical item.. Try taking an electrical part back to a dealership after you used it for trouble shooting or running your car on it for 3 months. Think they will take it back? Not a change, not even after you take it out of the box.

I've purchased some stuff from Valvegod with no problem. ProStockJohn actually recommended him to me. No offense but anything like a PCM or any other solid state component you should test asap. I think it's your problem now.

No problem I have other sources for this, no big deal. All ready have another, have to transfer file etc.
Alot of places sell PCM's, remote flash & then have a real warranty. For less $$ now I've found lol
