Does it smell like raw gas or partially burnt gas? How much buildup do you have on your exhaust tips?

If it is raw gas smelling it sounds more like a leak to me. I'd check over your fuel lines, make sure there are no loose connections or pinholes anywhere.

I know its not a leak since it there are no puddles on the garage floor.

It may not. Doesn't have to be a puddle to be leaking, gas evaporates fairly quickly. Could also leak only when the system goes under pressure with the car running, perhaps. I can't think of any other reason why you smell raw gas unless you have raw gas coming from somewhere. Maybe your gas cap is bad and the gas is evaporating.

do some part throttle tunning (like daily driven tunning), WOT tunning wont do any good for your gas mileage. if you have cats and can smell gas... then i assume it it super rich.

Did you see what the AFR was when it was being tuned? Especially the AFR at part throttle might be super rich but still your O2 sensors should trim that up if they are working properly. Any codes set?

Well when you take it back see what the AFR is and let us know. That MPG sucks and I'm sure you want to get it fixed.

Once you get your tune and parts/pieces squared away to ensure you have done all the physical things you can do, it's time to work on driving technique.

-Drive like a Grandma. Sure, it's fun to mash the gas...but if you want to save gas it isn't very frugal.
-Don't mash the gas only to have to mash the brakes at the next light. Remember, you've already spent money to get that car up to speed. By not paying attention to the traffic lights ahead of you and pushing on the brakes you have just thrown that money away. Time the lights so that you're still moving when you get to it.
-Don't let the people behind you intimidate you into speeding up. They'll go around when they can't stand it any more. Screw 'em.
-Get over people passing you. It's ok, you don't need to feel bad about it.
-Get over having to be the first in line at the light. It's ok, you don't need to feel bad about it.
-Coast down hill when you can. A steady foot on the gas to keep a particular speed uses more fuel than simply letting your car coast. The cruise control is terrible about this.
-If you drive a stick, flick your shifter into neutral on a downhill and put it back in gear with a quick engine rev to synch it all back together. It takes a little practice but it becomes natural after a little while. If you drive an auto, simply let off the gas and let it coast.
-Winter is coming up. Sitting idling will waste gas. Start the car and drive away. Don't get on it until it's warmed up some, but there's no need for extended idling. Also, the car will warm up faster than sitting in the driveway.

You don't have to give up enjoying your gas pedal forever, but these are the things to do when you want your gas money to go farther.

as far as the stall goes if its still a lock up you should see no difference on the highway with constant speed. i lost like 6-8 mpg's with my 4k stall but i still averaged 18 so i would be well over 20 highway still. i pretty much agree with what everyone else has said about things being clogged or needing cleaning and the tuner...it has to be something like that i would guess.

Definitely grandma driving advice! But all that will be sure to save you gas though. I guess I'm either not that old yet or gas really isn't expensive enough yet!

Hard to do when you don't have a garage and the windshield is covered in snow and ice

Unless you have snow or ice every day, you won't need to warm the windshield every day. Plus, I've had good luck with plastic sheeting over the glass on those days it's going to snow.

It just all depends on how motivated you are to save on gas money.

When you old enough to not have to drive like a teenager all the time, these things will still be valuable.

Until then, good luck with cops, tickets, insurance, accidents, and tire bills.

i would never start my car and then start driving. i always let mine idle, its easier on parts to drive when its warmed up. i guess everyone feels different about things. i let mine idle for a good minute or 2 before i drive it and i live in hot texas

I don't have to "drive like a teenager" all the time but I definitely enjoy performance and spirited driving as I'm sure most of us on here do or this site wouldn't be here.

I've probably gotten more than a ticket a year for the past 12 years but hey that's just part of it. We have speed limits in this country for those that need them and for those that don't. None of those are on my record nor should they be in my opinion. My insurance has only decreased because of a perfect driving record and no accidents. Tires aren't cheap but if you're not doing crazy burnouts they last a reasonable amount of time. When I want to save a little gas and wear and tear on my LSX vehicles I drive a four cylinder but still don't baby that one either.

You posted some good gas saving tips that should help out a lot for those looking to save a few MPG. I just hope I don't ever have to employ all of those techniques and drive just like that!
