Gas gauge is going all crazy... does anyone have a link for a step by step fix for a 2000 f-body? And also what the part I will need to buy to fix it? I think I've heard it called a floater but i cant remember.

My wife's '99 Cavalier gas gauge was doing that and we replaced the fuel gauge sending unit inside the tank (which includes the float you mentioned) and that fixed the problem. It's fairly easy to replace, but you will have to drop the gas tank; at least we had to on the Cavalier.

its the sending unit and you have an f body and yes you have to drop the tank and that means also drop the rear end to get to it mine is broken to i just havent got around to fixing it

i dont think the whole rear drops. only the panhard par comes out. and a few other things

the fuel pump module comes out by removing the tank or cutting a hatch
search on fuel pump replacement will give you step by step for either you
choose.
