Get what you want. To each his own. personally all my local friends ruined the LS1 for me. They think if its not an LS1 its nothing. I'll never become part of the LS1 crowd

I love my LT1 to death, but only got it because I couldn't afford an LS1. If I had been able to find an M6 LS1 T/A cheap enough that I wouldn't have had to take out a loan, I would've said screw the LT1. Luckily my opti only had 7 miles on it when I bought the car though. So, I should be fine for a while. lol

LT1's are cool cars, i think they look better honestly. You wont get the same dollar/HP ratio you would from an LS1 but hey they are alot cheaper. For the price of an LS1 car you could get an LT1 roller and drop a gen 2.2 small block in it

That's why I sold the LT1 Engine and swapped in my 402. For those that don't know what it is.. they just go "Damn that LT1 Car can move.."

That and I agree, the LT1 Camaro's look better..

I got my car for 1780 on the road cause it needs minor body work and had a miss cause the previous owner got 2 plug wires mixed up on the opti. It had 123K on it when i bought it so I thought y not. I think in all I have about 25-2600 in my car including having the trans built to hold future mods.

lol i wouldnt say the LS1 is slow in stock form. However, it would appear that way in your eyes since u are in the 11s, soon to be 10s

going from a Tiburon, The LS1 might scare him a lil

I got my LT1 because it was UNIQUE. There's not another car around here like mine. Barely any out there like mine period. And I only paid $4700 for it with 107k miles. Just needed some tires and some small stuff. But it runs great!. If I had not come across this car at the time when I had cash, I would have just kept saving until I found a good deal on an LS1 also. My friends are both looking for F-bodies right now. I tell them, "the LT1 is fun and all, but the LS1 will put a bigger smile on your face at WOT"

Either way, with heads and cam, you can still have both motors over 400hp. The main reason LT1s are slower is because of the induction. (heads, intake, TB) Get all that ported or buy higher flow parts, and you've got a fast motor with the right work done.

I like LT1's. They are good cars for their time period.

The LS1 just has too many advantages. It's a clean sheet of paper design and much better in almost every regard. I'd wait and get an LS1 before I'd buy an LT1. Actually, After helping a friend do a plug and wire change on an LT1 Trans Am, I can honestly say I wouldn't consider owning any LT1 car because plug changes are a pain and optisparks suck. GM quailty control wasn't as good with LT1 either based on the dealer shop mangers I've talked too. They said they had more issues with LT1's...you know the Opti thing...

Oh, and don't let anyone tell you 98's are no fun or can;t be tuned.... HP tuners and EFI live do it fine.
