Default Help! Plugs look like THIS!

All my plugs look like this after only a few miles. I'm sure they're going bad for the same reason my gas mileage sucks (15-16/23-24 in an A4 with 3.23's) but I can't quite pin it down in HPTuners and thought there might be some other solution. I'm not running too much fuel or spark, rarely see KR but am certainly not running it particularly rich, it is MAFless and putting the MAF back doesn't help. It's an A4 with around 165k on the clock, still stock still goin. Ran a 13.0 last month and so we know it's running well @ WOT. Only a 2.0x 60' time was possible though, I'm still on stock verter and I launch easy to preserve the rearend.

Anything anybody can think of? I'm running Sarge's 2 cycle TC-W3 engine oil at around 1-2 oz/5 gallons gas and it's running well, not misfiring or anything really. New injectors, air filter and spark plugs/wires and I've taken care of the fuel filter as well.

LMK.

Oh and I use anti-seize and connection lubricant each time I switch them BTW.

Why would you put 2 cycle engine oil in the gasoline of your 4 cycle engine?

Yeah I'd think putting oil in your gas would do something like that. Any reason for doing that?

Look up Sarge's thread on the 2-cycle stuff, I'm pretty sure it's helping rather than hurting. Besides, it did this before I started adding that stuff. I've been changing plugs about every 3 months just making relatively minor AFR changes that never seem to help one way or another.

Does it look like those plugs have oil in the threads? Could the rings on this car just be THAT gone?

It would appear so. I think it's probably just the VE table and if I order and tune with a WB then I'll probably be able to tune it out but thus far I haven't had any good results. STFT's are within +-10 of 0 almost all the time. I've recently run it leaner at WOT and just switched out this one plug, which went foul in about 50 miles. So she isn't running all that well even with all the effort.

I agree. I also wonder what that 2 cycle oil is doing to the o2 sensors.

I bought it. Seems to have worked out alright. I really don't think this is the issue - though thank you for giving me the fantastic idea to swap out the o2's.

Alot of tuners will tell you that even oil from the pcv system can casuse detination. Oil in you gas is not going to help you.

dude, dump the oil. Also im betting it has wrecked your O2 sensors, which in turn might be killing your gas mileage

I still don't think running oil in your gas is a good idea but I'll move on to my next set of questions. Why are you running it MAFless and has it been tuned for SD? How do you know what the actual AFR is? Do you have a wideband?

Look, the oil actually HELPED my gas mileage. That's why it went from 15 to 16 in town. I keep a running log of every tank and it remains consistently higher with a 1:500 ratio of TC-W3 in the gas. Seems to run better too. It's perfectly o2 safe and there are all kinds of people in that thread talking about how much it's helped. I agree with them. I really don't think the oil in the gas is causing the problem that I've had for around 6k miles now since I just started using it around 300 miles ago.

No WB atm. Having the MaF in didn't help either. I put it back to stock, and that didn't help. It's not a tuning issue, at least not exclusively.

"Before changing fouled spark plugs, be sure to eliminate root cause of fouling" lol. Read the whole thing. I can't decide what to think is the root cause. Would you say that picture looks like a completely fouled plug or does it look more like it would still fire? It looks to me like it gets VERY rich sometimes (possibly WOT) but then cleans itself pretty well. Probably in the tune, now that I think about it. Any more ideas? I can't completely address the tune just yet but I will get a WB when the funds become available.
