I recently bought a 96 trans am. I am not up to specs and all can anyone tell me what this car can do, any help will be appreciated. It says it has a 5.8L what the heck does that mean. It's beat up a 5.0, a 97 stang gt and a 94 camaro with headers.

 

Unless it is a ford the car should have a 5.7 liter engine, or it has been bored over alittle. I am pretty sure the early fourth gen F-body's came with an Lt-1 engine that produced 265HP. The finally year '97 I think they made 285HP. You should have no problem beating up GT's as long as your car is not on its last legs. LT-1's make for some fast cars and with some free mods you can be on your way to a new HP addiction. Try posting in the LT-1 section for more ACCURATE responses i.e. I own a LS-1 sorry
