Just got 00 z28 A4 cant decide what to upgrade first.
The car is completely stock. I already ordered me some replica z06 wheels 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 in the back and a borla catback. I am trying to pick out a nice coilover kit to lower the car and get the best handling but not realy sure what i should do for performance. I know i need a torque converter but dont know which one is the best and whats the difference between them. And also wanted to know what kind of gears should i get and whats goign to me rpm when crusing at about 75-80mph wiht each gear. And whats the best headers and y-pipe i can get that street legal. My goal i would say is to run mid 11's while sparying and having a streetable car.

TC with a stall 0f at least 3500. TCI and Midwest make nice converters for the money(around 500.00). If you have more disposable income, TCS or Yank. I had a Vig in my corvette, was a little too inefficient for my taste. Not that vigs aren't good, I just like the extra effifiency offered by the others (96-97%). Tranny coolers are mandatory. If I could do it again, I would have got the TC even before the lid or exhaust. The stock TC is a joke.

Thunder Racing or Comp Cam 224 with XER lobe
minor weight reduction
remove front sway bar
ET street on rear
You will need in addition subframe connectors, lower control arms
Go with springs from Lou Gigliotta.
Lowering the car hurts weight transfer which in turn hurts et
LS1 edit tuning
That should get you there.

Lose the lowering springs idea. They dont launch for crap. Not enough weight transfer. Get some QA1's or Koni's. Keep your stock springs.
Why spend extra money on a Borla? Mufflex, SLP, Hooker, Flowmaster are just as good, and cost alot less. I had a Borla on my 94 Z-28...not worth what I paid for it.
I will got rocks tossed at me for bashing lowered cars, and ripping on Borla. If your not hardcore about drag racing, then what these guys said is fine. My car is a dragstrip and street monster. You just have to decide how far in your willing to go.
Why spend extra money on a Borla? Mufflex, SLP, Hooker, Flowmaster are just as good, and cost alot less. I had a Borla on my 94 Z-28...not worth what I paid for it.

Convertor, shift kit, subframe connectors, and ET Streets were my first mods. Ran a 12.2 with crappy track prep.
Add a lid, FTRA, and a pulley to that & you got a 11 sec car.

His car does not have ls6 intake so for him a converter, shiftkit, SFC and ET streets may only get him upper 12's. My car right now only has potential for 13.3. When I add 3500 stall, shift kit and ET streets I expect to lose .6 but that only puts me at 12.7 ET. I'll be very happy with that but I would be doing backflips If I hit a 12.2.
I'm not flaming, I think you have one sweet car and awesome times, I'm just saying maybe he shouldn't expect to do as well. But you never know till you put in the mods and try.
Good luck and definately get a converter, shift kit, tranny cooler and some ET streets or Drag Radials.

I'd go with a stall, 3500-3800. Also get the shift kit/trans cooler to go along with it. Put some drag radials on the back to plant the power to the ground. Drop some decent headers on there, lid(they all flow the same), all the free mods. Should be down in the low 12s easy.
From what I've heard springs do nothing for launches, so I'd have to agree with Get Me SOM, if you really want to be a strip monster don't go for the springs. Personally I'm going to street trim so I'll be dropping my car, but I'm not worried about my ET's as much cuz its going to be a street car. Its what you want your car to be/do.

SLP and Hooker seem to work really well on the LS1. He's right - you don't get much for the price of the Borla. You wanna spend the big bucks, go for the GMMG!
With a full exhaust (headers back) and a few bolt-ons you be in the 12's for sure... Heck, if I could run a better 60', I'd be in the 12's with a lid and catback. You'll see twelves in no time if you plan on running a bottle.
Oh yeah... FYI - my car is lowered and I'm not sure if I like it. Looks great, rides hard - then there is the track...

Then you get a buzz and a low 13 sec or maybe (in cold weather) a 12 second car. for less than $500. And you can still afford to take your wife or girlfriend out.

On 160mph run, I found that the factory rotors fu*king suck!!! I tap them once, then let the windresistance slow her down, then when it is at 100mph I start to brake, and find that they heat up fast fade, and after decelerating from 160-145 then 100-70 they were worped to hell and back. I'm looking at getting new pads (from who knows where), and rotors from our sponsor R Rotors. Zinc wash of course.

T/AHotRada98, what possessed you to join this site if you are not planning on modding your car? Not tryin to flame you here man, but this site is dedicated to performance first and foremost, as well as appearance...both of which eventually require mods!!!!!! LOL.
Just enjoying a sweet ls1 is plenty fun in its own right...but once u get the mod bug, there's no cure. Anyone here can attest to that!!
