squeaky pulley help!
#21
its on the A/C, either the belt or the pulley. If the car has alot of miles, its most likely the pulley. but you might get lucky and its just a belt.
To put the belt on, you have to release the tension on the tensioner by turning the bolt on the front clockwise.

I've replaced the bearings in EVERY idler and tensioner pulley on my 99 Z28 and the phucker STILL squeaks until the motor warms up! I even put new bearings in my alternator and nothing changes. Needless to say it drives me nuts trying to figure it out.

i had the same exact problem in my 98 Z28 there was actually a GM service announcement (not recall) about a generator bracket that stock pushes out the idler pull 8.3mm and the replacement pushes it out 10mm. I ended up replacing the bracket, idler pulley and serpentine belt the part numbers are:
12563326 - Double row idler pulley assembly
12563327 - Generator Bracket
12562626 - Serpentine Belt
If u want i have the 2 page announcement i can send a scanned version of it to ur email if u want.
Hope this helps guys if not i guess it doesnt hurt to know.

yea is a complete bitch to get at though but it worked perfectly. At first it was the water pump that went and i thought that was the end of my problems till i found out about all that crap. It ended up costin like $600 or $700, so worth it
