Default Possible Headers

I have a 2000 Z28 and was wondering what the easiers way to install a set of Pacesetter Powdercoated Mid Tubes is. I was hoping to do this myself but wasnt sure how the easiest way was. I have heard to go through the top and i have also heard to drop the engine... anyone have any suggestions?

Just jack the front of the car up and pull the EM out the bottom and the headers in thru the bottom. No dropping the engine.

Indeed. I have seen ONE write up on doing top ways.....no bueno, and we couldn't get it. Don't bother, just make sure its up high enough, and do it under. By youreself might not be realistic either. Just have some friends help, make sure car is jacked safely, bring beer, have at it. Don't bring fox body guys though...they like to bitch about our headers lol.

AM is correct it is helpful to have a friend when you are pushing the header up from the bottom to have somebody up top help get the first bolt started.

Yea the fox body guys bitch cause most of the headers for their cars are puny 1 5/8ths

And they could have a midget inside the engine bay to replace the headesr for them....lol. Not only small primaries, but ****....takes like 30 minutes to replace them lol. Probablly takes longer to lossen the bolts with WD-40 and re-align the gaskets, then to actually put the headers on. Where as us......lol. Took us about 15 hours over two days.

I can't imagine going through the top on a 4th gen F-body and there's no way in hell I'd drop the front end to do this.

With mid-length headers, it'll be cakewalk. Not that longtubes are hard on these cars, but those won't need nearly as much height on the jack stands. A pair of stands, a jack and wheel chocks will have the car ready to go. Then grab a few ratchets and get to it.

Unbolt the coil packs, unhook the battery, drop the Y-pipe and do the damn thing. With time, patience, and perhaps a friend, you'll be able to knock it out. Be very careful when bolting everything back in, as the aluminum heads are extremely easy to cross-thread. You might have someone on here who's willing to swing by and help.

I did Hooker long tubes from the top. Just unbolted the steering shaft and removed engine mount bolts. Jacked up the engine a little bit and they slid right in. Car was only jacked up about a foot.
