Default Oil Pressure Gauge Readings

Can anyone give me a little insight on what the oil pressure reading should be. Mine seems to be reading a bit high at about 40 on the gauge at idle and when when I get into the pedal it jumps up to almost around 60 or higher. Is this normal in the LS1 ? If not what should it be reading and if it is high what could the potential problem be ?
