ENGINE SWAP?? v6 3.4 to an Lt1 or Ls1
Alright so i bought a 1995 v6 camaro A/T hoping to do a full motor and tranny swap, if anyone knows where i can start and maybe a rough guess on how much it will cost that would be greatly appreciated... Im planning on either an Ls1 or Lt1 for the new motor and i want to do work to it, and also any recomendations for a tranny and rear end would also be appreciated greatly....post here or PM either way works thanks

go search the hybrid section, they have all kinds of information about swaps, but expect to spend roughly twice as much as you think so instead of 2k more like 4k, and for that you could almost have a z/28. also are you doing all the work yourself? if not then it'll be more than that. lots of little things that nickle and dime you. even the gas tank is different in the v8 and v6 (not size, but vent)

Do a search, there's quite a bit of work involved.
Basic Tranny's you can either use are the 4l60e or T-56 if you want a manual but there again is a lot more work since our V6 car is an Auto, you can also go with a TH350/400/Powerglide ect but then were talking more custom fab.
Here's a few choices for rear end's.

Again use the search, it will answer 90% of your questions.
Good Luck.

Try to see if there are any f-body clubs in your area; around where i live (SE Michigan) there are a lot of clubs. I know that may be more difficult because you live in Maine, but it is a good idea to establish some "go-to-guys" that you can have help. One guy had a 99 V6 which he swapped a LS6 into... that was a lot of work.

What is your skill level? This is really easy to talk about, but you are going to need to know your way around things in order to get this done. I know when I was 17, I didn't have anywhere near the skill level to do that kind of a job and make it work right. I'm not trying to dog you or discourage you, but I'm not sure you realize the scope of the work that this is going to involve. If you decide to go through with this, best of luck to you!

I agree
I say go for it!!...I found a 99 V6 vert for 1500 bucks and decided to build a 408 for it.....Its a lot more the sense of accomplishment to say I did that than to buy an LS1 car thats already seen its better days and still have to rebuild it. jmo
