Default rear shocks

i want to change my rear shocks, are they compressed? can someone tell me exactly how to do it? thanks

I cut a slit in my carpet to access the top bolt but you really can't even tell.

They are fairly easy to change. Just don't have the car jacked up with the tire hanging down because the the shock is partially hold it up at that point. I learned this through trial and error. There is supposed to already be cuts in the carpet to access the top nut but I had to do a little cutting. There are also instructions on InstallUniversity.

Fold down the rear seat and you will see where it is kinda marked on the carpet where to cut.
