Water pump
Water pump 2000 Ls1 firebird. Traced a leak of antifreeze up behind the water pump somewhere. So I took the water pump out but to my suprise I can't find a weep hole on this thing. Do these pumps have weep holes?
The leak seemed to be coming from the gasketed area. The gasket seemed fine, but the soft orange center piece in the gasket had shrunk considerably. Could my pump be fine and all I need is a couple new gaskets? How do you know when an LS1 water pump is going out? The car did also smell like burning antifreeze when I was driving.

Ok I've done some searching around and have found out that the weep hole is way up underneath the pulley where you can't see it. So the leak doesn't seem to be coming from that area.
Not sure if I should buy a new pump to be safe, or just buy some gaskets and put it back in. I'm selling it anyways, cause I already bought another Bird last fall. I think I'll just buy some gaskets.

If your selling it I would just replace the gasket and pressure test it before putting the rest of the car back together. Then you wont waste any more time putting the car all the way back together then finding out the waterpump is bad.
