a fram air filter is maintainence
not a mod

and fra adds like .5hp, not 5hp
at least thats what the butt-dyno tells me
and thats .5hp at the crank, too

joking. have no idea what the FRA adds,
but i couldnt tell a difference, even at 135mph

In the Magazine GM High Tech Performance, they did they 5 free mods to a 2002 TA M6 and achieved 10 rwhp. I think they cut out the bottom of the lid, descreened the MAF and did something about a radiator hose. I think the also ported the TB.
I don't think I'd do any of this stuff if its a daily driver...theirs just to much of a risk with dirt and stuff...especially if you drive in the wet or dusty climate.

butt-o-meter usually only picks up 10+hp
usually you cant feel a 5 hp diff...

The throttle body bypass and egr cut are just common sense (unless you live in alaska or something).

If you want ram air, buy it/build it if you want to see a real difference. I'm getting the fast toys ram air + lid myself.

About the maf descreen, well I'm not sure yet. I mean, will it do anything? Probably not much if any. Could it hurt a M6 car? I've never seen anyone saying anything bad about the mod on those.

Throttle body port/polish. Couldn't possibly hurt, and might help just a little up top.

!egr; !air - well if nothing else it reduces weight

!mcdonalds lunches - 100 lbs is at least a .1, so every little bit helps

do some more research. there are guys running some bad *** h/c packages that are still on the screened maf, what does that tell you . the gains dont warrent the potential tuning problems that can arrise.

Well I could run a stock airlid with a high dollar 427 LS1, and probably be in the 10's with it.

What does that tell you?

Absolutely nothing.

Would you still recommend it? I mean, if you can run 10's on it, it's just fine as is right?

Of course not.

But like I said, I'm not sure yet. I'll probably be more inclined to pop it out after LS1edit comes in. It'll be here soon. Early christmas for me

an air lid doesnt have the potential to **** up your tuning.

z98 great points....
jrp look like i said b4 ported maf ends are CHEAP
its a great mod when you have little money and are just starting out.... i have had NO tuning issues on mine so i cant tell you what the ppl that did have probs did wronge.... but mine works fine... if his dont then WHEN he goes heads cam then he can swap back in the stock ends if he wants .... but why the hell would he leave 5 hp on the table right now when he has stock heads cam???
