Default A.C dryer 2002 T/A

Is there supposed to be a insulating cover or "jacket" on the A/C dryer? Mine is still freezing up and someone asked if it was supposed to have one or not. Mine doesn't have one but I've seen lots of other vehicles with them.

if it freezes up and won't blow very cold after driving for awhile then it probably needs to be recharged. Mine did come with the insulation but I removed it when a replaced the ac system when the compressor went out.

the pressure is holding at 42 and the head pressure is up around 200 - 250. I put one can in it and I think it only calls for 2 for a full charge after a drain. I'm afraid to get too high a pressure. Do you think another can would be alright?

also, they dryer is very cold from top to bottom, another indication that it doesn't need freon. I could be very wrong though! Any ideas are very welcome!

I think your fine on freon. Have you recentyly replaced your compressor? It sounds like your system may be getting clogged. You can install a in line filter. If the compressor went really bad you could have metal particals all in your cooling system and trapped in the small cooler attached to your radiator. I would just take it to an ac shop and have them find the problem for you. Ask first but some shops will inspect it for free.
