Default oil pump question

Alright guys thought I finally had the car all figured out. Just put tsp tr3 cam, 5.3 stage 2.5 heads, tsip 90mm intake, 90mm throttle body, 42 pound injectors, ls6 oil pump and 3200-3600 stall. Took car out and for about 25 miles ran perfect sounded great. Then when driving down the road at about 40 mph the was a loud ticking sound looked down at the oil pressure and there was none. I shut the car of right away. Any ideas what could cause this. This car is driving me crazy, please shoot me any ideas about what to try. Checked the oil and it was fine right where it should be, would a collapsed lifter cause this?? I pulled the drivers side valve cover and one of the rockers feels mushy you can push the push rod down by hand and it does spring back. Is this from the lack of oil I dont know????

pulled oil pump off and the o-ring is on there and in good shape, any way to tell if the pump is bad? I am going to put the stock pump back on and see what happens. I fired the car up with the valve covers off and no oil coming through the rockers!!! What could cause this???

Why would it run good for 25 miles than take a ******* like that? Do you think it could be the oil pump?

How did you run it with out valve covers is what I'm curious about... But I would it sounds like oil pump problem.

Removed the covers and fired it up to see if it was pumping any oil and nothing came out, I did not drive it with the covers off I did this in my driveway. I shut it off as soon as I saw no oil pumping out.

I'm in the middle of something just like this right now. I replaced my sending unit and that did nothing. You might want to drop your oil and look for rod bearing material, then decide whether or not you need to pull the motor. Ill post up if I find out what is causing my oil pressure to read 0
