Default What is porting?

When im looking at threads, it brings up porting. I was wondering what porting is on a tb, intake, heads, oil pump. Can anyone help?

Basically porting is shaving away material to enlarge it to get more ______ to get through porting a TB will get more air in so you port or enlarge the TB hole to get more air in, intake is the same way and so is the heads.

Cool. So if you port a oil pump, you have more oil picked up. And is porting always good?

If done correctly it can be very beneficial, but if done poorly, it can hurt performace and/or operation of the part below stock!

Porting is when you undo the air filter, and pour sand directly into the engine while its running. Once the engine is bogged down, you stop pouring sand in, change the oil, and Wala
