Default skip shift eliminator?

i have an 02 ws6 and the skip shift function is really aggravating..ive been told just unplugging the pigtail from the 6spd will fix the problem...or is there a jumper to bypass the feature...its pretty annoying!

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm

Go to install documents > scroll down to transmission > select either one of the following two:

!CAGS: $0.50 Radio Shack resistor
!CAGS: SLP Skip Shift Eliminator

Both work.

I've read on here that you can also unplug the sensor. Never tried it but they say it works

+1 for just using a resistor.

make sure you wrap it up real good with electrical tape.

when you eventually go to get the computer tuned, make sure you get it deleted from the computer, so you dont have to keep seeing the skip shift light.

ChaseSTi
The skip shift eliminator or the resistor prevents the manual transmission cars from locking out 2nd gear.

I used the radio shack ones a while back, no complaints. The light still comes on, but no more forcing a shift to 4th

if you're doing a burnout it wont cause "skip shift" to enable. It only comes on in part throttle situations at certain speeds. ex: like 15% throttle at 15 mph (disclaimer: i dont claim to actually know the cutoffs for skip shift, just that its only when driving easy) basically if it slides into 4th gear when doing a burnout, you really are to blame LOL

yes lol, driven calmly is when it activates. if you're being aggressive with the throttle, it'll forget about its "economy" mode

Exactly, the skip shift was just there to give the car a slightly better gas mileage rating, and therefor avoiding the gas guzzler tax. The eliminator is significantly cheaper than the tax.

I just bought my car last week and it had a little card that explained it in the glove box. Without going and getting it right now lol i'm almost positive it said if the gas pedal was depressed 25% or less it would activate. Figured it out a little on the WV turnpike heading back home. First two toll booths killed me, at the third though skip shift didn't stand a chance
