Default what does this mean???

I was trying to parallel park my car and I tried putting my car in reverse and it grinded. I put it in nuetral and put it in reverse again and it grinded again. That was the first and hopefully last time it happened. I drove around the block and I put it reverse again and it seemed fine.. What does that mean??? Need help.. Any suggestions/opinions??

If your still rolling forward while you try to pop it in R it will grind a little bit. Throw it in gear then put it in Reverse..

Not sure exactly what it means, but I had that problem when I had my 5-speed 3.8L. When I'd put it in reverse, it would grind and clunk into gear. If I put it in 5th, then reverse, there was no problem and it went in smoothly. The tranny was fine and never gave me issues (had over 150K miles on it). Try what SOM02 said

Bingo!

Just the reverse synchronizer though. You can get the hub, slider, springs, and keys for just under $100 as a kit.

My car has done that since I bought it. I just put it in first before reverse and it's all ways ok if if do so. It is habit know, I've been doing it so long. I just can't see paying for tranny work just for that. I've had my car for over 5 years and it is been fine. You will get used to it. Just put it in any other gear first and then reverse.

Not fully disengaging the clutch when selecting the gear (also can be caused by a clutch that doesn't fully disengage) or rolling forward when selecting the gear can cause it.
