Default LS1 swap

Need help I just purchased a 2001 Camaro v-6, 5 speed. I have a complete 2001 LS1 motor & 6 speed with wiring harnesss waiting to be dropped into something. I was thinking about a G body before I got the Camaro. I heard that you need the v-8 gauge cluster for the camaro swap plus also some gauge ecm that is in the dash. The Camaro is super clean, just don't know which way to go.

you are better off selling the v6 and getting a v8 camaro if thats what you want.

or keep the v6 as a DD and dropp the ls1 into something else- thats what I would do.

If you already have the engine and tranny with harness it could be done very economically. As long as the engine is from a 99-02 car it will plug right into the dash harness.
Price List
$100...Gauge Cluster
$150... pedals and cable for tb
$300-600... complete ls1 k member with suspension.
$50... tranny mount
theres other misc. thing like the heater and a/c cooler lines but the big thing you already have so I'd say why not.

THANKS, There one other thing that I question. Is the v-8 gauge cluster just a plug and go or do you need the under dash pcm unit(?) to make the v-8 cluster read right.

Default LS1 Swap

No problem,I'm not complete sure about everything yet, but here what I 've come up with. I have be told that any LS1 99 to 02 will work. Try and get the complete engine and wiring harness from the same donor car.The tranmission would also be a plus out of the same car. If I had figured this out a little more I would have looked for total out donor v-8 car. But it shouldn't be that bad. The one thing that I can't seem to get a anwser on is the gauge cluster. I know your have to change to the v-8 cluster, but I heard you also need the under dash computer or some called a pcm. That what I'm trying to figure out right now. I'm go back to the same salvage yard that I got the lS1 from and see if they will let me grab the cluster and anything else that maybe tie to it.
Good luck and if you figure out anything else just post it!
