whats up your first thing to do would be reading up on the forum because then you would realize the slp y pipe is a total waste of money. the stock one flows quite well for what it is and your gain will be minimal if any and if you decide for LT's latter you'll have to get a new Y pipe anyway. save your money.

welcome.... get headers first... you wont realy notice the diff in the y pipe alone unless its an 'off road' pipe and youll be going catless... but still.. yourgiong to spend what $150 $200 on the y pipe might as well save the extra $300 and get a decent header set with a y pipe. macs and i think theres a good set of lt's with a y pipe for that much as well ...
bottem line welcome ask questions pay attention to the answers and learn as much as you can
again welcom

Welcome to the board!
Save the money, get some LT's.
Need more details on what you got planed forth car?
Just gonna keep it on the street and want more power?
Going for some quick times down the 1/4?
Sounds like a sweet ride, though.

WELCOME!!!

Like the other guys have said, don't bother with the SLP y-pipe. It will not fit headers if you plan on doing that down the road. Just save your money for headers.

Peace,
Craig.

thanks for the info on this. i wasnt sure if th y pipe or a set of headers first would be more practical.i will probably go with a set of short length headers first then a costum y yhanks gents.

Don't even waste your time with the shorty's. Just do long tubes now so you don't have to do it over again. Hooker's are really popular, but if you'd like to spend a little more money for more quality, i'd say go with the FLP's.

I went with the SLP y-pipe myself when I put on a loudmouth. That's only because I bought it used from a friend of mine. I don't know if it did anything, but any little bit helps when you're on a budget.

I agree stay away from Shortys or Midlenghts and throw a nice set of LT headers on there. The 01 @ 02 LS1's got improved flowing exhaust manifolds from the factory and you will see no gain from a shorty. A midlenght will provide slight power increases but a LT header will totally outperform a midlength header.

WHAT?! WHY?!
Take those blinders off! Why limit yourself??
Unless of course you're gonna get some cash back from them for running their stuff at the track! Just remember SLP LT's hang low!

well as a newbie i was going to warn you not to listen to phoenix because he doesent know what the **** hes talking about half the time..... but for once he is making sence... yeah man parts are parts. its not like back in the 70's when the only good products were made by the car manufacture. look around ask some questions and remeber theres three ways to do any thing the cheap as bastard way where things are hacked togeter, done right but saving cash in the process, and the sucker paying top doller for every thing you want and being flat *** broke all the time.... just as long as your not playing the hack youll be fine

slp is WAY overated. maybe in the beginning when there were less options for mods out there slp was fine but now they have been eclipse by price and performance by several other companies. dont become a victim of slp marketing. there long tubes hang low and for the 800+ price your better off with kooks/qtp, there lids have rubbing issues (sans the blackwing), nobody here runs there h/c (that in itself tells you something), ect.
