zero back pressure, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too loud to drive for more than 10 minutes at a time, absolutely horrible for the o2's. i just did this myself for about 5 minutes....never again. yes, it scares women and children, but its really not worth. save up and buy the duals at the same time. my cheap *** pacesetters + duals rom speed inc cost me a little over $500 including shipping. only reason i didnt buy ARH was cuz i dont plan on owning this car past next summer, so i went with cheap and loud.

if you MUST run open headers, at least put a little bit a pipe like a turndown to protect the o2's. again, i wouldnt recommend it.

you will get horrible gas mileage because the o2s are exposed closer to the fresh air and they will read more air and the computer will start to dump more fuel.

Don't do it.
A large animal in the road took out my Y-Pipe while I was driving home on the highway around 2AM--voila hanging/dangling Y-Pipe & open headers. I could not go faster than 3MPH up the hill to my house because it was just too obnoxious for the poor people sleeping and even driving 10MPH through residential streets it caused some lights to turn on.
My radar detector turned off/on, the stuff in my center console and my phone in the cupholder looked like a lotto ball.

Not sure what physical effects are, but I would advise against it, solely on these grounds.

When I did LT headers on my LT1, I started it up with open headers before putting on the y-pipe and cat back.

It didn't sound good at all. It was simply noise...over powering terrible noise.

I agree with above, I did it once for about 5 minutes and never again. Plus your O2s will take a **** on you.

Geez some of you people are pussies..lol

I have to start my 408 with Open Headers here when I put it back together..I made about 14" long sections of 3" Pipe to stick on back of them to not mess up the O2's.

Yea it's loud..I've done it before, but trust me with the Cam I have and all that stuff it sounds like pure sex..

I'll be driving it to the Exhaust Shop like that too..

If your motor is stock or has stock compression it will sound like ***.

If you have a nice cam and raised compression, it will souund good. Mine sounded pretty nasty for the 2 minutes I ran it.

Sorry to cut in but I was wondering... I have hooker 1 7/8 headers and was thinking of picking up the QTP y-pipe with the dual cut outs. Will this sound like open headers also and will it have no back pressure. The cut outs are located right after where the headers and y-pipe merge???

Look at My Sig, I am running the exact same cut out on a 770 hp single stage, and a 880 hp car on a dual stage.

It is LOUD!!!! But everthing is designed well on the y pipe and have had zero problems with the y pipe and cut outs.

Best Info I can give you is DONT LOWER THE CAR with this Y Pipe. I have the Eibach Prokit and the cut outs scrap frequently when I go over bumps. I might be switching back to stock springs.

Awesome Y Pipe though, it is a true head turn-er on the road with the open cut outs!!!

pussies? your starting it and driving it to the exhaust shop... i road around like that for a week, EVERY DAY! it is NOT something you want to do..

i had an ms4 cam.. not too many cams out there sound that aggressive and it still sounded like TOTAL ****..
at idle i couldnt understand someone saying it wasnt THE WORST sound in the world.. but giving it gas...

put some money in a good exhaust setup.. something like an x pipe with 1 chambers and then compare it.. thats when it REALLY sounds like complete ***..

I have a 3" Y'd into a 4"..then narrowed down into a 3.5" with a Cutout right before the Rear Axle..it sounds sick.

Yea if it's a stock Engine it sounds like ****, I agree.
