Still more stall questions
So im still wondering about a stall honestly how long will my trans last ? ? and if i dont have a cam or anything in it yet will that make the stall less damaging to the trans ? is there a cam that would give me a decent ammount of power and allow me to not have a cam ?
If you're gonna mod then you have to be prepared to break stuff quicker. That's just the nature of the beast. That said a stall will shorten the life of a transmission but you can minimize that by buying a good transmission cooler. Shift kit is a good idea as well. Both are relatively inexpensive.
I ran a 3500 stall in a stock 4L60E for over two years. The car had at least 300 quarter mile passes during that time. Then one day when I launched my tranny blew up. Well at least 3rd and 4th gear did. I had to drive all the way home doing 50 mph in second.
One last thing. Over those 2+ years my biggest regret was not getting a 4000 stall. 3500 seemed too small after the first month.
Good luck.

On a 4L60e, adding a stall and tuning out TQ management will absolutely take life out of the trans, the best you can do is put the biggest cooler you can find in there and change fluid frequently.
Also start learning how to rebuild yourself. Otherwise you will be paying. As for actual time frame, it depends on conditions, driving style, milage etc etc.

honestly, it seems like these trannies are hit or miss. alot of guys will tell you if your tranny is running fine, then you should be okay. then there are some people like they already mentioned breaking down quicker than expected. if i were you, i would seriously invest in getting the tranny upgraded and doing a converter at the same time. get it done the same time.
i also have a vig 3200 and it works very well. very easy to drive, not a headache. and im also cammed and its a good overall converter. but, i would not hesitate to jump to atleast a 3600.

i had very similiar concerns before I installed my stall, I installed a 3400 about eight months ago and never looked back, I would think the trans would go before the rear end in automatic cars because of torque management. I have a shift kit, a big cooler and a deep pan. I haven't had one problem with the trans since. I am saving money though for a performabuilt lvl 2 for when it does go though.
Its really your choice because there is no clear way to tell when the trans will go. Some tranny last a long time and some don’t last at all. Most will say change it when it breaks but I wished my stock one was still good. That way for any reason I need to put it back to stock or mine goes I can put the stock one back in for temporary use.
totally agree!! like i said in my earlier post, your better off saving and getting a built tranny and converter done at the same time and be done with it..instead of spending 8xx bucks on a converter w/ tranny cooler and then have your trans go out, then you need 2,000 dollars to get a built tranny..and who knows, once your tranny gave it, it probably might kill your converter too.

I'd be curious as to how many miles are on it now. Aside from that, if the tranny seems to be shifting, and generally working properly, I would just add a good trans cooler along with the stall. Really, unless you plan to install a power adder or big cubes, I wouldn't upgrade the transmission itself until it becomes evident that it's necessary. But, as someone previously stated, any time you begin to modify a vehicle, it adds additional stress to many of its components, so it's wise to be prepared for possible problems.
ok thanx for all the advice if i go that way ill just save for the trans or buy it but the car and trans only have 23,000 miles on it but say i wanted to go a different route and forge the internals and super charge or pro charge it where could i find a wed site to find all the parts and what part would i need anyone have a list ?
removing torque management and doing just a few WOT 3-4 shifts killed my tranny.
i had it built up at that time and it seems to be holding up to whatever the stall is putting it through. i just added some torque management back in (just cutting a little power on shifts). just make sure that when you get tuned for the stall that they don't remove everything in the stock tune that is intended to keep the tranny alive.

First of all WOT 3-4 tranny shifts will kill any tranny. The OD stresses the 3-4 clutches and they WILL burn up... My 3.23 car shifts at 135+ spinning 6500 so I rarely see a WOT 3-4 shift. Basically these trannys are not made to do WOT 3-4 shifts.....
