Hey do low temp thermostats help at all for hp ?

i dont think so. all it does is lower the operating temp. the vehicle will run better. but i dont think its gonna make it quicker. the only way you would find out is on a dyno.

Also lowering the fans operating temps is recommended with a lower temp stat

what is the point of it? dose a 160* do all that much? i had a Grand Prix GTP and everyone seemed to put in 160* or 180* in so i did but never understud what it did?

running cooler can result ing cooler air charge in the engine, which translates to slightly more power. much like a cold air kit.

cooler engine allows for running a more aggressive tune, due to less chance of heat induced detonation.
