Default 98-02 Firebird Differentials

What kind of differential does the firebird use? Open, LSD, or.?

Also, (I am much of an idiot. I have just started learning automotive service.) can you switch from one type to another?

Thanks!

Depends. V6 Firebirds were available with either an open diff or a limited slip, depending on the option selected when the car was built.

And yes, you can swap an open diff for a limited slip or locker by changing out the differential itself.

Thanks for the fast reply! What would it cost for me to get an LSd differential? (Assuming I am installing it myself, no labor.)

Which option(s) on 6-Cyl determine if it is LSD or open?
