Default spark plug diagnosis please help




pics suck, but u get the idea. white tip. always heard that is from running lean, is that true?

this came off a buddies car.

Looks a little lean to me. The best way to get plug readings is a WOT run and shut the car off and put it somewhere safe and pull as it shows the plug at the absolute moment where it is being run the hardest. Even idling can change plug looks.

well the thing is the car runs great at wot, it has a a/f of 12.8-13.0. but its his partial throttle that is killin him. partial throttle is very lean, but wot is nice and smooth.

With fuels today, I've always been told it's too tough to read plugs. Just what I've been told.

Tuners often do what is called a "Lean Tune" to give some more milage when the car is driven 98% of the time between 1k and 2.2k RPM. I would add some correction in the fuel trim and that should fix it up nice.
