Oil question
I'm in new jersey. I run Castrol Syntec "European Formula" (aka German Castrol Syntec) 0w30 all year round no problems.
keep in mind though Mobil 1's 0w30 is not the same as Castrol's 0w30. a lot of people on here run mobil's 0w40 instead. if you can find the German Castrol around you though, I would highly recommend it. a guy on here "patman" i believe did oil analysis tests on a bunch of different oils and that came back the best. some autozones and some strauss's carry it.

Hi i live in reading pa not far from westchester and i use the castrol 0w30 all year use to daily drive the car to with that oil its good stuff. I use a napa gold oil filter seems to work nice. But i heard how frame sucked and stuff i use to use frame but hey a napa is closer to me so why drive farther to me both are ok to use.
Fram has a cardoard ring that runs around the top and bottom of the actual filter part. i have heard that this cardboard will break off and get in your oil and therefor your engine. Other brands like wix(which i use) have a metal ring for this, so there is no chance of it breaking off in peices due to saturation from the oil.
Yea they are supposed to be good but an extra $8 for a nut stuck on the bottom doesn't cut it for me.....AC/delco is GM OEM so that is all my car ever sees.
And to the OP a 0 weight will circulate through your motor quicker in cold weather at start up so that is what I would recomend for you....Another GC year round user here....PP 5w-30 is my second choice on the rare occasion GC is unavailable..

Bought the k&N today cause the parts place did not have Wix in stock.
My dad is a County Mechanic and they use Wix on all their diesel apps did not even think about them until it was posted.
