Default best headers

I have a 2001 camaro SS. I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust and I was wondering I've read alot of people in forums saying that qtp are the best headers one can buy. I've also read that people have had alot of trouble fitting their catted y pipes on. Any advice on this would be welcome.. as far as i've seen this has been the most informative modding site.

American Racing, QTP, and Kooks are all considered top-notch stainless headers. Pacesetter are considered by most to be the best bang for your buck header. My personal experience is with American Racing, and the fit of my headers was flawless, as was my catted y-pipe. Some sponsers on this site such as Byunspeed also offer JetHot ceramic coating on the headers they sell.

Nice.. I'll have to look at the american racing.. the fit will definitely be important. I'm in Afghanistan and my stepdad is doing the work for me so good fit will help him not to have a rage attack lol.

If you can afford better than pacesetters go with kooks. My pacesetters have been on for about 3.5yrs and they're starting to rust. I expect within the next three years I'll be upgrading them.

Default headers

I thought about headers on my 2002 SS LE. I got a quote of $2240 for Kooks long tubes and a tune. Diablosport Predator I believe. The guy said it would give me 20-30 horsepower. I thought it was a little expensive are pacesetters like you were all talking about pretty decent? I seen some with a ceramic coating on them also. Will I get 20 or so horsepower from the pacesetters? Do headers give you a big noticeable feel in performance? I just want to know before I spend my money on them.

If you can swing it, go with American Racing.
Kooks is a great 2nd.

I originally bought my 1 7/8" ARH longtubes only from Byunspeed. Had to buy the ypipe when I tried installing my true duals lol. A buddy of mine has Kooks 1 7/8" LTs too and he said they slid right in also. My vote goes for ARH or Kooks, although they are the 2 more expensive to choose from. Well worth the money IMHO.

I love the look of the new LPP polished stainless steel long tubes, especially if you get their Y pipe to go with it *also polished*

I appreciate all the input. I looked and looked and was really torn between the Kooks and the ARH. I went with the ARH 3x1 7/8 stainless steel longtubes. Also ordered the Corsa Catback with the 4 inch tips.. now I'm even more anxious to get back to the states lol
