Default Ran a Baseline 1/4 finally

The numbers dont make a whole lot of sense to me

1st run

60'---2.2
1/4 et--13.5 @104

2nd run
60'--2.5
1/4 et---13.9@104

This is on my completely stock A4 C5, in 43 degree weather on run flats. I couldnt hook up at all, i wasnt expecting a whole lot out of the run flats. What doesnt make sense to me is why the trap speeds are the same, when on the second run i spun really bad and didnt even get all the way into it until after the 60' mark.

Your trap speeds are the same because you sat there in place spinning your tires for .4 seconds.

Looks like you've got some room to improve, though... you could get that 60 foot time down.

I always tell people to roll into the accellerator instead of mashing it. If you do that, you're gonna spin. You probably just need to load up the converter, and then ease it off the line.

Yea man you should go into an empty parking lot and practice launching, it takes skill. Be patient and Good Luck

a 2.5 in an auto ... Parking lot it.

The first run was a pretty nice run, get that 60 down to a 2.0 or so, and you'll be in real good shape.

thanks for the tips! the first thing im going to do is to replace the worn out run flats with some drag radials, then ill try the parking lot practice.

Screw the parking lot. Practice at the track were it counts. It's too different anyway. Your 60'/ET/Trap speed makes perfect sense to me. I would've expected to see a 13.0 @ 107mph in that weather though.

The trap speed, combined with a known race weight, will give you an idea of what kind of HP the car's putting down. Since that's pretty consistent, that's why the trap stays pretty close to the same. Same driver, same car, same night...pretty consistent trap speeds.

You CAN mash the throttle with some nice nittos, bf drag radials, or et streets.

With the A4 I would go with Nittos or BF Drag Radials. The latter is the better.

I have gotten 1.801 60's with 12.7 at 108.9 miles an hour in the quater on my 01 ss.

I never FEATHER the throttle, but mash the crap out of it.

if you are running on stock tires, then yes, feather it and then mash the living **** out of it when you are at the right rpm's where you wont spin.

Good luck though.

Racing is a talent, not one to be taken for granted.

Not everyone gets it the first few times out. ALOT of track time will help immensly.

Go to alot of TEST AND TUNES where there arent AS many people there and you can get the most runs in.

Most ever for me was 14 runs at LONG ISLAND DRAGWAY in NY

Good luck.

Will these work? They aren't that much "wider" than the stock. I've seen a 315 Nitto fit a 9" rim. Not that I'd do it, but I've seen it done.

Nitto's are 10X better in rain than BFG's. If you're gonna run DR's all the time, avoid BFG's, IMO.

Yes Nittos are very good DR's but they have to be heated very well, I dont think you will see an increase in traction with just a "wider tire" you will see an increse with more sidewall. Good Luck

good luck with the BFGs. Just remember they have an extremely short tread life so be ready to keep replacing them. also dont drive em in the rain with less than half their tread left. for what there worth tho they do hook really well.

on the launch trying 2-footing the gas and the brake while raising the RPM to like 12-1400 rpm (stock stall is 1800 right everyone?). when you launch dont even depress the gas, just let off the brake quick and keep the gas as far down as it was.....then about 10-15 feet out you should be moving enough to put it on the floor. good luck.

Actually stock stall is 1900. put your car in 2nd with traction Control off, and mash the brake all the way to the floor, then do the same with the gas. Your PRM will go no higher then stall. Good luck!

I gotta try that launch tip. I raced my friends Monster 88 C4, and spun like a mother off the line! I stalled to 1900 or a little bellow, and then floored it.

onebadz........do you like your converter? I want the same one, and wanna see how it is.

I love my TCI SSF 3500 but I think I am gonna go with a SS3800 or SS4000 because I have heard so many good things about yank and they some of the most efficient converters on the market...if you are on a budget go with TCI its a great converter.

I run a TCI 3800 and I think its a great converter for the money. I paid 485 for it. The shift extensions are great.

The difference is night and day when I mash the pedal comparing to stock.
