Wheel Spin Feeling on Highway
ive noticed this alot lately. i will drop it into 3rd (i have an automatic) and punch it from around 65-75 and it feels like the back tires are spinning. they are 18" nitto 555's with about a years use (5k miles maybe). my car is a 99 T/A with 126k on the clock and 323 gears. i cant tell you the last time the rearend fluid was changed. i have never done it but the tranny has new fluid. what could this be? please dont give me bad news saying its the rear or tranny, that would just suck completely

What? Want to try that again but in english this time haha. Anyhow to the OP I think it sounds like your transmission is on its way out the door, mine was doing the same thing but on the 2-3 shift with about 115k on the clock. You mentioned you have new fluid did you do a tranny flush or just a filter change? I have heard tranny flushes on high mileage 4l60e don't mix. So just do what I did and buy a PerformaBuilt Level 2 and a stall and have no worries

manual shifting an auto is 1) gay (unless its a manual valve body, which you don't have) 2) terrible for the 4l60e.
also trans flushing the 4l60e isn't the greatest idea in the world. Some people swear by it, but everyone ive seen done has had the trans go out within the year.
sounds like you need a rebuild.

ah. my bad, I thought you were manually shifting. reguardless it sounds like its time for a rebuild. Damn, gm can make a hell of a powerplant, but the drivetrain isn't worth ****.

If I drop mine from OD to D at highway speeds, it redlines extremely fast, but im pretty sure its not slipping I think its just a short gear. If its real wet out I can spin my tires at 60.

If your mashing the gas at 4K RPMS in third its gonna redline real real quick in an auto, pretty much as soon as your foot hits the floor. Does your car accelerate in a quick burst then redline or just rev up freely as if it were in neutral?

wheelspin in 3rd? do you mean that it go sideways or does it just rev and go nowhere?
either you're making something like 600+ rwhp or your tranny may need a rebuild.
was the tranny fluid dark?
these are random pictures showing color of tranny fluid.
