Default high idle on ls1..

so today when i pulled in the driveway and put the car in park, the car idle was crazy high .. it was at about 1500 so i popped the hood to check if my throttle was stuck and it looked fine.. also on the way home i noticed without even giving the car gas from a dead stop, it accelerated by itself and kept the rpms at about 1500.. just enough to have the car shift into second and stay at a low rpm in second gear.. anyone know what this could be ? .. any input will be greatly appreciated ... before this started i noticed that when i put the car in revers and let off the gas, the car would spurge and want to shut off.. i figured it was due to the cam and didnt pay any attention to it ....

With a cam, you need to have it tuned.

Is it a A4 or M6 car?? What cam also.

i had the same problem, mine was due to a vacuum leak.... the throttle blade on my TB had the hole drilled which caused too much air getting in at idle, i swapped the stock blade in and it was fixed.... (now it doesnt get enough air because of the epoxy mod restricting the IAC -_-)

Depending on the miles you could also have a faulty idle air control valve.

You can try cleaning the IAC stuff with carb cleaner, but I'm gonna say vacuum leak as well.
