Go to a dealer. So you don't end up doing a second or even a thrid time.

^^ If your on a budget then that is the worst idea ever. Advanced auto lifetime warranty. Save you a ton of cash if you CAN do it yourself

Call your local parts store they should be able to hook you up.

Buying one at a dealer is a bad idea..I work at a dealer and my price on a new GM pump is $196. Suggested retail on one is about $400. I went to advance auto parts and got a new pump with a lifetime warranty for $134...it only takes about a hour to change one ... no need to pay someone to do it.

GMPARTSDIRECT.com $225

DO NOT get a autozone/checker water pump. You'll be replacing it again in a year. Sure it'll still be under warranty, but its your time... and coolant isnt cheap.

And here is the install guide. Just negate the info on the electric water pump. This will tell you step by step what to do. http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=26 You can do it with a $50 set of tools from autozone/checker.

GM part #89018053 is the "pump kit" which is the upgraded LS2 water pump and thermostat housing only with the f-body big pulley on it. The kit comes with a brand new LS2 thermostat.

Not to be mean but if you can't afford $225 to fix your car the right way you probably should sell it as performance cars require maintenance and it'll just be another $200 the car will need next month. Sell some stuff, do extra work somewhere, stop eating out or stop buying beer or cigarettes. You'll have $225 is 5 days.

There is a reason Autozone, Advanced, etc are cheaper, do you trust their short cuts on quality and manufacturing enough to a crucial component of your car's overall health?

well, 69camaross, you may be right in some aspects. But particularily parts for ancient cars (4th gens) go by supply and demand. When supplies go down and/or the part is no longer available, then the price skyrockets. That doesnt make an auto parts store water pump look so bad though does it.....

The last pump that I bought from Advance Auto Parts lasted 121,000 miles before I replaced it. The GM OEM pump that the Advance Auto Parts pump replaced lasted 76 ,000 miles...which one was the "quality part" .... I rest my case.
