I beg to differ with Homerun.... An auto with a stall will usually outrun a 6 speed with comparable mods. Never seen an auto faster than a 6 speed? Come on dude. LOL!

Ive owned both and, they're both fun to drive. But I do luv my auto. The little diablo tune I put on it really woke up the trans. I dont even have a stall and ive ran a best of 13.0 @ 107. And as for 6spd's being faster, They can be and autos can be faster. It all depends on what you want. And, yes you should keep the wife happy!

Why are you asking strangers? Get what you want or are willing to settle for.

I had an auto 04 gto a few years back and all i can say is if you want a sporty cruiser get and auto if you want a sports car to cruise in get the 6 speed. I have a 6 speed now and absolutley love it. After owning the gto i swore id never buy another automatic again takes all the fun out of driving. IMO

what a 3200 converter can do for you.....

This is a 2nd gear pull at the start of the video, about 3/4 throttle, not enough to make it downshift to first :

This is a forced low rpm hold in 2nd going full throttle

Copy that. I drove a Mazda 6 with the auto-stick the other day and that's even more fun than the brain-dead-matic in my T/A.

As for all of the talk of making an auto faster than an M6, that's only in a straight line. Try to take that stalled thing to the auto-X/road race and it's a different story...

it's a challenge to take corners, has its own ups and downs, but can still be done. i haven't taken a 6 speed fbody around anything too hairy, but sometimes it helps to be able to keep both hands on the wheel and have gears you don't wind out as quick (and loads of torque). i've had a few manual tranny cars and i miss having that feeling of more connection between the throttle-tires-road, but with the stall, you get the hang of it.
trick is to drop the auto selector into 2nd (or 3rd) while taking curvy roads and it makes a night and day difference. when you back off the throttle, you won't shift into overdrive and you've got better feedback overall.

i see you're in san diego... if you aren't stalled, you can drive mine and you can see what it feels like - you'll forget all about that mazda.

if you ever want to push your tires and brakes to the limit, check out mesa grande rd.

just watch out for any apexes around gravel driveways (there's only a few houses on the road).

I had an SS 6-speed that was A LOT of fun to drive. Now I own a T/A auto and even with 3.73 gears and upping the partial/wot pressure using a tuner, I wished I had a 6-speed. Have never driven in car with a stall so maybe that's what I'm missing
