Default what does this mean?

i get in my car. step on my clutch. turn the ignition and it doesnt start. its like im trying to turn on the car without stepping on the clutch. sometimes i release the clutch then step on it again and it starts. can that be my starter?

I think there is a safety switch or something that is engaged when you push the clutch in....that must be going bad on your car.....I'm sure someone else that knows for sure will respond shortly....

I think it's called "neutral safety switch"

Yup, there is a switch down by the clutch pedal. It engages when you press in the clutch pedal and lets the engine start. I'd crawl under the dash with a flash light, find the switch, and see what's going on down there. May not be a bad switch, maybe the pedal is not pressing on the switch right or something.

thanks. i forgot to say that when that problem does happen there is a click everytime i try to start it( 1 click per turn) idk if that changes things but lmk. thanks
