no, the **** a factory freak is stupid. Whoever says factory freak i wanna punch in their damn eye socket. If your car was a "factory freak" it would be a freak at stock options not gears. Now im gonna go put 3.73's in my car.. does that mean i have a factory freak? NO it mean i got a ls1 with gears.
seriously WTF is up with all these idiots trying to give advice... must want their post count to go up or something

from one new guy to another when you ask a question like that your gona get alot of different answers. What i have found out that their all right and their all wrong. For example one guy says stall well if you want better quarter mile then this is the best choice. One guy says exhaust (long tubes and catback) well this is best if you want loud. so on and so forth. Really it depends what you want to do to the car and what you want it to be. Trust me i just asked a ? like this one. They all gave me great advise and an excellent starting point to my search, build, and break scheme that we all go through some time. so i hope this helps you a bit good luck and happy building

I don't think anybody on here will dispute that other than no2 a stall will make the biggest single difference on a stock A4 car.
Do your bolt ons first (supporting mods) then you will get the full potential of the mods that follow such as cam/heads and/or power adder of your choice etc.....
Good advice from jdiddy READ THE STICKIES... Then come back here with further questions.
And welcome to the LSx world

Some m6 cars dyno 290 others 320-330 STOCK BONE STOCK it happens thats 40 hp...ON THE SAME DYNO, ON THE SAME DAY I have seen it, don't post when you don't know WTF you are talking about... prime example of a blind man telling another blind man what to do...
No, full exhaust then cam will net you more HP
again no.. My car with a catback, lid, and tires on a 150 shot went low 12's with NO traction....

With an A4 most these guys got it. I feel like a noob but now I'm rethinking. Supporting mods. Get an aftermarket air lid. Doesn't matter the brand. Replace the filter, you can do K&N if you want it. Look up some free mods that can be done to your car to clear up more power (search free mods). Next would be to get some better spark plug wires. I'm running 8mm taylors for example with NGK TR55 spark plugs. Headers, you will see the most gains from longtube headers in power and torque both (not just to be loud) also you can take off your catylitic(SP?) converters if your state is emission free. Next pick your exhaust. Most gains will come from an x-pipe but you will lose ground clearance. Go aftermarket 3" y pipe with a nice 3" catback exhaust and you will be going. For an engine to be able to gain power it needs to be able to inhale and exhale as freely as possibly. If you do gears then you will see a difference in take off it will feel a lot stronger bc it will be. I can't comment in a stall bc I have no knowledge on them and no experience. If you can do most of these you will feel a difference trust me
if you get the headers and y pipe with exhaust get a tune bc you will throw a code for no cats* Or no EGR. I can't explain that one either but you will throw a code.

Stall for sure with an automatic, but what do you want to do with the car? Drag racing or corner carver?
Although it doesn't make too much of a difference when you're just starting out as all bolt ons will really support anything you do with the car, getting a good set of shocks/sways will really wake up the car in the corners while you're working on getting more power. For just power, stall/lid/exhaust will be best.

Just trust everyone on here. Stall that baby and put a lid on her. Its the only mods i've really done, and they both woke the car up. Didn't notice a difference with my cutout, but its louder than stock and that's what I wanted it for.
And don't listen to brainSS, like everyone says you can put nitrous on your car and get great results.
Why has there been such an influx of crappy posters lately? I've noticed that the intelligence level here keeps going down. Sad.

If you post in the wheels and tires section you will definitely get more responses though...
