Default 1998 Camaro computer question.

I've read a couple different places that the 1998 computers are crap. Is there a way or even a reason to convert it to a 1999 up computer? Is it even really worth it? Just wondering.

Nothing is wrong with the '98 PCM. It's a bit harder to tune for extreme applications (like forced induction, etc.) but still entirely doable for a good custom tuner. Anyone that tells you the computer is crap though, is misinformed.

Thanks for the info. Trifecta told me they spontaneously combust sometimes. Not literally of course. But that sometimes when you tune them they'll just lock up and thats it.

Bringing this up from the dead. I would like to do this swap on my 98. I know there is alot of up's to this swap, "more options, tune on the fly, more tables, faster tuning, faster res.," I'd like to hear from some people who have done it and know what needs to be changed. Ive searched and found nothing. I know there are some pinouts to change and a gas tank/sending unit along with something with the cluster. Only downsides I see are some labor (who cares) and a lil money.

You should start a new thread in the PCM section with these detailed questions.
