No. LS6 intake is the only ls6 part stock on all 01-02's. A *few* 01's and like 25% of 02's came with an ls6 block, but other than the bay windows there's no real difference (read: Ls6 block itself doesn't make more power, at all...) but no f-bodies came stock with the ls6 heads (243) or ls6 cam.

However to answer the question you tried to answer, yes... it is a direct bolt on

Well, congrats on the new motor. I have to ask though, why not just rebuild the LS1??? You could have done a forged 347 with heads and a cam for less than you spent on the LS6.

I am going to rebuild the LS1, but it's my first total rebuild so I'm going to take my time. A friend and neighbor races an ASA car, and we're rebuilding the LS1 in his backyard shop. I'm still trying to decide how I want to build it, but the TA is also my DD and I want it back on the road now. After all, it's Spring and my TA is a rag top...you wouldn't have me drivin the wife's hybrid all summer would you?

But of course the most important reason is that I found the tag "QWIK LS6" was available.

I saw some prices close to that, but they were all re-built long blocks...not a bad budget option, though.

The 04 LS6 comes absolutely complete with the newer fly-by-wire TB and vette Z06 clutch assembly. Anyone want a never-used Z06 clutch and flywheel? I'm rebuilding my McLeod and resurfacing the flywheel.
Does that include the labor?

No, sorry, Labor Not Included...

But that's why I opted for a crate motor while I rebuild the LS1. If I wanted it rebuilt right away, I'd have to pay someone to rebuild it, and the labor + parts was more than the crate motor.

Did mine and am very pleased, recently put down 381whp with bolt ons.

As far as the swap over to an ls6 it was basically my ls1 but much more new looking
haha

Good thread I'll say. Funny at the beginning. So it's a direct swap I see.

My LS1 has 11K on it. I thought about doing this same conversion after reading the new GMPP catalog that arrived yesterday. Crate motor deluxe!

While my SS is scary enough, I can only imagine what newfound power GMPP will unleash next time around. Just a newbie with a new GMPP catalog lol.

Seeing that you're from TX, the state with the highest F-Body to population ratio lol, you might be able to find a good ol' boy who'll do the swap for some or all of your LS1 when it goes...

Seriously, it's worth offering. The labor cost range could be more than the cost of the motor, depending on who you have do it. Don't leap at the first offer to do it for $1000 or less, until you find out if he knows what he's doing.

+1

Heck even less, rebuilt bottom end and some used 243's and ls6 intake/cam you would have plenty left over.

Even though its your DD, you said you could easily drive the hybrid around. I mean if you have the money im all for it, just seems a little wastful lol

Goodluck with the swap!

Thx, I had the money...and I've been reported to be wasteful where the TA is concerned. It's my third F-body ('79 formula & '87 5.0L), and I'm doing to this one all things I wanted to do with the others...

He can sell or bastardize for parts the LS6 when his 1 is finished. Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.

Again to the OP, I want to apologize for having MY head up my own *** and being disrespectful, it was childish and uncalled for.
Goodluck with your build.
