I dynoed 01 A4 Ws6 at 290rwhp 316rwtq. Numbers are corrected and ran with the cutout opened. Air fuel ratio wasn't the best it could be either. Mods in sig.

I don't understand this..

A lot of guys keep saying that GM "under-rated" these cars to make the corvette seem better

Yet everyone else keeps saying that these cars are dynoing at LESS than the advertised HP/torque

sources say our '01 SS should produce 325 HP and 350 torque... yet every time i see someone dyno'ing their STOCK car, they get no where near 350 torque, and 5-10 less, sometimes even lower, HP.

checking again, some other sources say 320 HP, and 345 torque..

gm does not rate there cars at the rear wheels
the hp posted by gm of these car is the flywheel power
and that is greatly under rated
stock numbers for my ws6 is 325 hp

331 to the rear wheels at a 15% loss is 390 flywheel hp

thats with a lid and catback only

even 300hp at the rear wheels 353hp at the motor

so you see they underrate alot

You are thinking crank HP, we are talking about RWHP actual power to the ground/

I swear i remember reading someone saying that Corvettes were rated at the crank, and camaros and firebirds were rated RWHP...

No, both are supposed Flywheel ratings. However, pretty common knowledge that GM low-balled the ratings.

I've never heard of a car being rated in terms of rwhp from the factory. It's always fwhp or bhp.

I used to work in a subshop in high school, and there was this like 40-something guy that would always come in. He had a 92 Daytona IROC with the Turbo III or IV (can't remember what was in those)l. He kept saying how it's 224hp at the wheels and how everyone rates at the wheels since like the mid 80's.

Ignorance is the worst form of stupidity.

Might be a little late but my 02 dynoed 324.9 with absolutely nothing done other than and drop in K&N no lid. I just bought the car and had 6000 miles on it so I believe it, they dyno high.

I took that as you thought the 335 had the lid as well, but I guess it was you have the factory cme and added a lid. Sorry.

I was headed out to the Dyno when I went over some railroad tracks and pulley my Y-Pipe off (It wasn't welded in) So I ended up having to Dyno with open Headers, and it was loud as hell... Anyways, do you dyno higher or lower with open headers?

I had similar results. With a Magnaflow muffler (the rest of the exhaust is stock), an SLP Lid, and a home ported throttle body, I dynoed 330/348. I wish I had done a stock baseline but I figure 310-315 stock.
