1/4 Time
I have a 1998 Camaro with the 3800 II V6 engine. What is the typical or average 1/4 mile time that these run stock? On my car, I have added the Whisper Hi-Flo Lid, Holley Powershot Filter, SLP Cold Air Induction, SLP Manual Fan Control Switch, 160 Degree Thermo, and Borla Cat-Back Exhaust. What time can i expect to see in the 1/4 mile. Also, my car is an automatic. Thanks for any help and times!

Yeah, come on guys surely someone knows some times!! I would say maybe low 13's Yeah right! I have never had my car at the track on account i got it on July of last year and that is right in the middle of the busy time for where I work (Farm company, I live in Illinois, what do you expect) I plan on taking it this year but I would really like to know some times of a stock one and what I can maybe expect to run. Please, any times and numbers are appreciated!!

i havent ever actual seen anybody drive a v 6 f body to a track, much less down it.
just kidding, my little brother runs a 98 camaro v6 and he turns 14.80's all day in it. he has a few things done to it, but mostly all bolt ons. but like i told him, if he would have just saved all the money he spent in bolt ons and added it to the original cost of the car, he could have................well , you know how this ends

True dat. That's the situation I was in. I had 2000 Firebird, 12k mi with the W68 package. When I looked at the cost to get it to run even comparable to a TA it wasn't anywhere near doing it. Turbo v6's are exciting though.... Forced induction can get you some mad numbers. Personally, I just waited and upgraded to the LS1.... No regrets. BTW, right around 15, if anything a hair under, is a good guess. Good luck!

Yeah, I have had many people tell me that also. I will admit i regret it. I wanted either a camaro or a trans am and at the time, i liked them just for looks, i didnt plan on modding it or anything. And plus, not many camaros or trans am come around for sale very often where i live (unless you went to st.louis-about 1 1/2 hours away) and i wanted to get one in my town or neighboring town bsaed on the fact in case it need mechanic work i can it to where i bought it. I saw this, bought it and then i got the need for speed. In my town (pop 2,800) there are quite a few f-bodies i think. There is mine, a 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary, a 2002 Camaro SS, and 1998 Trans Am, and like 2 or 3 V6 Camaros that people own that i dont really talk too. All the ones i mentioned are modded and i think that played a part in me wanting to mod it. Also, insurance had a play in me getting a V6. Well, after all that said, yes i wish had a V8, but hey, I still ove my car and it still looks sharp!

im under my own insurance at 21, and im only paying under 100 bucks a month (just over a grand a year) with my 98 z28. and somehow i've been able to get mods (as long as they have a C.A.R.B exemption sticker) insured. insurance companies are just like any other company, they are ready to wheel and deal. and if you have a bad driving record...id suggest a honda. just dont wind up the rubber band too much and you'll be fine.

A V6 camaro must have quite a bit done to it to run 14.80's. I had a 1997 V6 with RKSport headers, 2.5" carsound cat, edelbrock catback, platinum 4 plugs, taylor spiro-pro wires, 180* t-stat, SLP intake, and 3.73 gears. My best ever was a 15.611 @84.965 in late fall. My friend has a 1998 V6 camaro with only free mods and runs 15.8. Here in northeastern OH, all V6 f-bodies run mid 15's or higher. I got tired of dumping money into the car so I finally traded it in last March.
