I've had some chirping going on in my compressor for a few days, luckily it lasted long enough to get me home from Florida. When I got back the chirping went away, but so did my damn Cold A/C.
I'm almost certain it's the clutch because the clutch engages, but it doesn't put any load on the engine like it normally would. Which tells me that it's not a leak because there is enough pressure in the system to turn the clutch on.
My question is: is more cost effective/efficient to just replace the entire unit with a used compressor off ls1tech or should I just get the compressor clutch assembly and put a new one in there? I've heard it's common for the shaft bearing to go bad at the same time as the clutch, but I've never replaced a compressor clutch before.
