Default Traction control??

I'm still looking for a Camaro but I've got a question about the traction control switch equipped ones. Does the car still have tc if it doesn't have the switch? or does it just not have a way to bypass tc system? I know.. this is probably a really dumb question.

if it doesn't have the switch it doesn't have traction control at all, or in your case, ASC (no clue what it stands for, since I drive a firebird).

Thanks for clearing that one up for me, and I believe it stands for active stability control I've been wrong before though. I'm a noob to sports cars in general, my dd is a denali and before that was an accord. How important would finding a car with asc be for me?

Let me clear up the confusion on Camaro vs Firebirds terms.

- Both V8 Camaro and V8 Firebird use the same traction control system, just with different names.

- Camaro calls it "ASR" (Acceleration Slip Regulation)

- Firebird calls it "TCS" (Traction Control System)

- If there is no switch for ASR/TCS, then the car does not have traction control.

- As you live in TX, I would say that traction control would be rather unimportant for you. It can be helpful in the snow under certain conditions. As for rain, I rarely use it. Overall, in your climate you could easily live without it.

I have a habit of turning off traction control every time I start my car. It wouldn't be a deciding factor for me if I were to buy another f-body, and this is coming from a guy who's used to driving in a lot of rain and snow (WA state).

Ditto except I do turn it on in rain, but any other time all it does is bog down the car when I want to do some quick acceleration.

I ordered mine without TC. It was a $500 optipn. I told the salesman that's why I'm buying the car, to spin the wheels.

Thanks RPM for clearing that up. I couldn't for the life of me remember what ASR stood for. I wish mine didn't have traction control.

ive made it a habit to turn mine off as soon as i get in the car. nothing looks worse than trying to play around with someone and leaving it on.
