I have a 2001 Z28 and when I start to drive it in the morning there is a annoying rattle. Its sounds like it is coming from the back of the engine right below the winshield defogger. When the car warms up it seems to go away or it becomes very subtle.
GM says this is normal but it never did it when I got the car a year and a half ago.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Well you may be cursed with piston slap like me!! One way to tell if it's engine related is with the hood up while it's doing it pull the throttle open a little bit and see if the sound increases or sorta speeds up. That should let you know if it's engine related.A good way I found to listen to it well is to get down by the wheel well and listen, that will cut some of the valvetrain and AIR noise....Good luck
