One piece of advice that I have been given quite a few times that going cheap on the converter is the wrong thing to do. Just remember that if you go cheap and it craps out, its not like some other parts, it'll take the transmission with it.

Good thing to also think about is what you plan on doing in the future. If your gonna do a cam, then yes stall would be a good mod to start with b/c they work together. If your not doing any internal to the car, do something else, underdrives help, intake, weight reduction is huge. Gears are always a good thing, but cheapest for the $$$ is nitrous. Good luck

Weight reduction is a good idea
Underdrive 5-8 rwhp
intake 8-15rwhp depending on mods/cam
Gears will feel good, but most likely show little gain at the track in an auto. (my car never gained anything from stock 2.56, to 3.08, to 3.42)
Get a stall and stickier rubber, if you need a MAF get a stock one. Then tackle the other bolt ons.
