heads??
how can i tell which kind of head i have?
ok EDIT: i went outside and looked but was not able to locate the head casting number and i didnt even smoke a joint today

They can look externally stock and still be modded, if that's what you're asking.
All the stock LS1 heads (806, 853, 241) can make equal power with the same port and valve modifications. Most agree that 241s flow a tiny bit better in 100% stock format though, due to the casting proceedure.

806 use perimeter bolt valve covers and individual ignition coil attachment.
853 use center bolt valve covers and an ignition coil rail that bolts all the coils to the valve cover as a single unit.
241 are the same as 853s but were produced using a slightly better casting method that results in ever-so-slightly better port walls than the previous heads.
They all have the same potential.
