Question heads??

how can i tell which kind of head i have?

ok EDIT: i went outside and looked but was not able to locate the head casting number and i didnt even smoke a joint today

There is a casting number on the top corner of the heads. Should be 3 digits. 706, 862, 853, 241, 243, 799, 823, etc.

on the right side of the motor where the heads meets the block,the lower right side of the head next to the exhaust manifold there be a 3 digit number.what yr is the car?

its a 98 z28 ,, ihave the 806 heads i had to take a shirt n sum water to see thanks

Yeah those are stock '98 perimeter bolts heads.

They can look externally stock and still be modded, if that's what you're asking.

All the stock LS1 heads (806, 853, 241) can make equal power with the same port and valve modifications. Most agree that 241s flow a tiny bit better in 100% stock format though, due to the casting proceedure.

there really isnt a big difference once they are ported. The 241's stock flow alittle better

806 use perimeter bolt valve covers and individual ignition coil attachment.

853 use center bolt valve covers and an ignition coil rail that bolts all the coils to the valve cover as a single unit.

241 are the same as 853s but were produced using a slightly better casting method that results in ever-so-slightly better port walls than the previous heads.

They all have the same potential.
