Question winter prep the car for daily driving

Okay I need some info on keeping the car running in great shape over the cold months.

I did plugs , wires , fuel and air filter last November.

What weight motor oil should I use for the North East winters.

The car has had few electrical gremlins in the past.

Some of things I can think of are to get the battery and alternator tested.

How do I test the electrical system and or look for shorts in the wiring system.

I'm really hoping to avoid stalling the car on side of road this year!

Thanks!

The crank and cam sensor needed replacing every winter.

Window motors are fine but sometimes the passenger window doesn't move at all other times it works flawlessly.

2 weeks ago the car just didn't start, no crank nor did it turn over. It sat over night and it started just fine.

It was almost like the vats issue, when the security light is blinking and the starter doesn't engage, but i know it wasn't vats since its by passed.
